Crucial foreign star to miss SRH IPL opener

Sunrisers Hyderabad will miss the services of their designated skipper Aiden Markram in their IPL 2023

opener against Rajasthan Royals on Sunday as he is on national duty with South Africa.

Veteran India seamer Bhuvneshwar Kumar will lead the team in his absence.

Markram is currently playing in the two-match ODI series against Netherlands and will arrive in India only on April 3.

The series is important for South Africa's direct qualification for the ODI World Cup, to be played in India later this year.

Bhuvneshwar has previously led SRH in six games in 2019 and once in 2022, winning only two matches.

The team's second match will be against Lucknow Super Giants on April 7, and Markram is expected to be back by then.
