Samuel Ishimwe Karemangingo is a Rwandan filmmaker. He was born in 1991 and is best known as the director of the critically acclaimed short film Imfura, which made him the first Rwandan filmmaker represented at Berlinale.

After completing his secondary studies in 2010, Ishimwe started working as a reporter and photographer at igihe.com.

In 2011, he made his first short film, Paying Debts, which was screened at the Rwanda Film Festival.

In the same year, he participated in a documentary workshop in Uganda conducted by Maisha Film Lab, where he worked as an assistant producer on the short documentary Invisible Souls.
