PAN Aadhaar Link Payment Problem
The Indian government has made it mandatory for all PAN cardholders to link their PAN with Aadhaar by June 30, 2023. Failure to do so can result in a penalty of Rs. 1,000. However, many taxpayers are facing issues while linking their PAN with Aadhaar, especially after making the payment.

Here are some of the common problems and their solutions:
1. Name Mismatch Error
One of the most common problems faced by taxpayers is the name mismatch error. This error occurs when the name on the PAN card and Aadhaar card do not match. In such cases, the linking process fails, and the taxpayer has to pay the fees again to initiate the linking process. To avoid this error, ensure that the name on your PAN card and Aadhaar card is the same. If there is a mismatch, you can update your name on either of the cards to match the other. You can update your PAN details on the TIN-NSDL website or UTIISL’s PANOnline Portal. Aadhaar details can be updated on the UIDAI website.
2. Payment Error
Some taxpayers are facing issues while making the payment for PAN-Aadhaar linking. If you are facing a payment error, follow these steps:
- Wait for a few days: The payment made at e-Pay tax/NSDL (now Protean) may take a few days to reflect on the e-Filing portal. Therefore, wait for 4-5 days before attempting to raise the PAN-Aadhaar linking request again.
- Check payment status: Check the status of your payment on the TIN website. If the payment is successful, wait for a few days for it to reflect on the e-Filing portal.
- Pay the penalty: If you have missed the deadline for linking PAN with Aadhaar, you will have to pay a penalty of Rs. 1,000. You can pay the penalty on the TIN website.
3. Date of Birth Mismatch Error
Another common error faced by taxpayers is the date of birth mismatch error. This error occurs when the date of birth on the PAN card and Aadhaar card do not match. In such cases, the linking process fails, and the taxpayer has to pay the fees again to initiate the linking process.
To avoid this error, ensure that the date of birth on your PAN card and Aadhaar card is the same. If there is a mismatch, you can update your date of birth on either of the cards to match the other. You can update your PAN details on the TIN-NSDL website or UTIISL’s PANOnline Portal. Aadhaar details can be updated on the UIDAI website.
Conclusion
In conclusion, linking your PAN with Aadhaar is mandatory, and failure to do so can result in a penalty. If you are facing any issues while linking your PAN with Aadhaar, follow the steps mentioned above to resolve them.
