Aim Of ISRO Chandrayaan 3 Launch

The mission aims to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface, and it will consist of a lander and a rover similar to Chandrayaan-2, but without an orbiter. The propulsion module will carry the lander and rover configuration until the spacecraft is in a 100 km lunar orbit.

The launch will take place from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, and the launcher identified for Chandrayaan-3 is GSLV-Mk3.

What is the objective of Chandrayaan-3 mission?

Chandrayaan-3 is a follow-on mission to Chandrayaan-2, and its primary objective is to demonstrate end-to-end capability in safe landing and roving on the lunar surface. The mission aims to put a lander and a rover on the Moon’s highlands near its south pole, and to demonstrate end-to-end landing and roving capabilities.

In addition to demonstrating safe landing and roving capabilities, the mission also aims to conduct in-situ scientific experiments and develop and demonstrate new technologies required for interplanetary missions. The propulsion module will carry the lander and rover configuration until the spacecraft is in a 100 km lunar orbit. The propulsion module, in addition to the lander, carries a payload called Spectro-polarimetry of Habitable Planet Earth (SHAPE) to study the spectral and polarimetric measurements of Earth from the lunar orbit. To achieve the mission objectives, several advanced technologies are present in Lander such as Terrain Mapping Camera-2, Lander Position Detection Camera, and Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscope.
